Realising The Hearts Potential

With Rosalie Dores

April 6, 2019

Insight Dialogue (ID) is a relational meditation practice, grounded in the wisdom tradition of the Buddha-dharma. In ID practice we extend the profound benefits of solitary meditation into being with others. We acknowledge the reality that we are social beings and engage with the complexity of being with others, as a potential path to freedom. We meditate together, recognising and unbinding the relational knots that cause suffering in our lives. In ID practice we engage with the Buddha’s teachings experientially, accessing their relevance to our wider lives.

In this day together we will explore the Buddha’s teachings on the four Brahma Viharas – divine abiding s, Metta – loving kindness, Karuna – compassion, Mudita – empathetic joy and Upekkha -equanimity.

We will use the framework of the teachings as a guide to tap into sources of wisdom and insight -both internally and externally. We will take-up the Buddha’s invitation to know the teachings in the context of our everyday lives, and in the light of our own experience. What direct experience do we have of these qualities of heart, or the absence of them? What conditions allow for their fruition? What might they have to offer in facing the challenges of our everyday lives? I look forward to joining together in this enquiry
