We use the information collected primarily to process the task for which you visited the website. All reasonable precautions are taken to prevent unauthorized access to this information.
We do not disclose any personal information obtained about you from this website to third parties except when we need to do so in order to complete the transaction – e.g. when arranging for a shipping company to deliver books that you have ordered.
The information we collect depends on the type of transaction you enter into. We may also use the information to keep in contact with you and inform you of developments associated with our programs.
The following is a summary of different kinds of data you may share when using our website and how we use and protect that information:
Data related to credit card payments is processed by PayPal or Authorize.net on a secure website linked to ours and is protected by their privacy policies. Metta Programs does not store or have access to credit card information, including automated recurring billing, that you may use to register for programs or offer donations via our website.
Your Internet browser has the ability to store small files – “cookies” – that hold information which allows a website to recognize your account. Our website takes advantage of cookies to enhance your experience as you navigate through our Members-only pages. You have the ability to prevent your computer from accepting cookies but, if you do, certain functionality on the website may be impaired.
You may sign-up on our website for our email newsletter; when creating a user log-in for our Online Community you will automatically be signed up to receive this publication. The newsletter is an additional vehicle for sharing the teachings and to keep our community apprised of current developments associated with our programs.
This mailing list is stored and protected by a third-party service called MailChimp. At the bottom of each mailing you have the opportunity to remove yourself from the list by using the “unsubscribe” link.
Data collected in the process of registering for a program or event is stored securely in our database and is only accessed by program staff as necessary to complete the transaction.
Some data may be shared with teachers or facilitators of an event for the purposes of supporting the learning community – e.g. when arranging a professional training, registration data about profession or years of experience may be relevant to teacher planning. In cases which registration data may be shared with teachers or facilitators, all payment or scholarship data will be removed.
Some data may be shared with third parties as it relates to completing your order – e.g. we will share your requested dietary accommodations with the caterer for the retreat you have registered.
To register as a member of our Online Community, you are only required to provide a user name, password and email address and these are noted with asterisks. You have the option to complete your profile in as much detail as you like, and can return to edit it at any point.
